Rafting Expeditions around the world

Travelling on rivers gives you access to the most secret places on Earth.

Some places are accessible only by water, where the roads don’t reach. Our expedition is a blend of nature, adventure, action, culture and team spirit. There is no need to be experts in rafting to join us! Just come to the preparation day on our base in Italy. The people who chose this kind of holiday usually are energetic and flexible, curious and with a positive attitude. If you have already done a little bit of camping, that helps and if it is your first experience, you will learn quickly. Everyone participates actively not only in life on the river, but also in pitching up the tents, loading and unloading the rafts every day, and who wants can help in the kitchen! It is a simple life, in tune with the elements, in good company and in an unique and totally remote place.

Nepal November 2020

Why Nepal?

Nepal is a small country, less than 200km wide, situated between China and India; its territory contains nine of the highest peaks in the world, tropical jungle, thirty different indigenous groups, six languages and many dialects, two main religions and over nine hundred temples; all this is just a glimpse of what makes Nepal intricate and beautiful.

One of the World’s Mecca for rafting.

Nepal has always been a destination for explorers, travelers, high-caliber mountaineers and trekkers.
What few people know is that the best rivers in the world descend from the Himalayas and in particular in Nepal. Nepal is considered the “mecca” of kayaking and world rafting.

Is it advisable to go to Nepal since the devastating earthquake?

Absolutely yes! One of Nepal’s most important revenues is tourism, this is the time to help rebuild it! If you think it is in bad taste to go and have fun in a land where many people have lost everything, I can assure you that it is the opposite !! The Nepalese people are happy to have us as guests and even more so if they can earn money by providing services, rather than receiving assistance from NGOs!

Tamur river – Trekking and Rafting in Est Nepal

One of the few unspoiled remaining paradises on our precious planet. The Tamur River comprises all the fascination of unexplored Asia. The adventure departs from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Kathmandu is a multicolored city, a place of wonderful artisan and local handy craft markets. It is a must see for all avid travelers, and the departure point of many Himalayan expeditions.

In two days we cross all of Nepal by bus to reach the unexplored and mysterious Far East Nepal, across small villages, Buddhist temples, puzzled looks, friendly smiles. Another three days trekking, through astonishing views  over 8000m peaks such as Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. Finally we will reach the secluded valley of the TAMUR through the village of Dobhan. The river welcomes us with its awesome crystal blue & white rapids. Tamur, the top world class rapids! We have 6 days to get to know its secrets, navigating over 200 km entirely self supported through a pristine river, without portages.

Life on the river is a wonderful adventure. We get up early in the morning, prepare a hearty breakfast and take the field apart. All equipment is carefully loaded and tied onto inflatable boats, already organized in watertight containers and bags. A little bit of yoga as a “warm-up” and sailing begins.

We will spend 3-5 hours in the water every day.
We stop along the banks for lunch and continue until we reach the best beach, where we mount the camp again for the night.

BEER O’CLOCK A good aperitif and snacks and it’s time for dinner, sitting on the ground around the fire, chatting under the stars and telling us the anecdotes of the day.

06 November
Arrival in Kathmandu. At the international airport of Kathmandu, the staff of Totem Adventure will welcome you and organize your transport to the city by Taxi. Settle into hotel and relax.

07 November
Optional visit of Kathmandu. We tell you where the places of interest are and give you recommendations, but let you experience your discovery adventure independently, which is much more fun than a guided tour. In the evening we get all together for a pre-departure meeting. Overnight in hotel.

08 November
Inland flight to Biratnaghar. An awesome flight along the Himalayas with views of the highest peaks on earth: Cho yu, Sagaramāthā (Everest in Nepalese) and many more. Land in the tropical town Biratnaghar, where the bus with all our gear is waiting (which left for the overland trip two days before) and will drive us to Basantapur. Overnight in camp or hostal, depending on what time we arrive.

09 – 12 November (Trekking)
Preparation and packing for the porters, starting the four days trekking traversing the mountain chain of the Milke Danda. Like on the river, also during the trek we spend the nights in the hotel 1000 stars. We pass the villages of Chouki, Gurpha Pokhari e Gorjia walking in altitudes between 2500 – 3500m. that means no problem as far as altitude sickness, but with very cold temperatures during the night. We get rewarded with the most stunning views of Everest, Makalu and Kanchenjunga. And finally we arrive at Dobhan, where we will leave the porters, set up our first river camp, pump up the rafts and go for a swim in the cristal waters of the Tamur.

13 November – 18 November (rafting)
Six days of Top world class Rafting. Innumerable big volume and technical rapids all the way to the confluence with the Sun Koshi.

18 November
